Good workout today. 2x1000m, let Aaron lead us in the first half then he slowed down a tad, so Christian and I swung out and pushed the pace a bit. We had to run in lanes 3 and 4 a lot due to sprinters boondoggling. Hit 3:03 and 3:02. 75 second first 400 on both of those. 2x400 next. Aaron said he'd pace 73 because I couldn't, and then the punk runs 68 or something lol. Christian and I hit 73. Went to the bathroom and did the next one with Austin and Mason, 70. About 20 seconds after I finished Christian and some others toed the line, so I jumped in with them. Christian and I paced the first 300 a bit easy and then went ham the last 100. 67. 300 200 100 after. Active rest for a 400 between every repeat. Barefoot cooldown and strides on the trf. Coach had a talk with me where he said I'm really good at practice, and I push everyone, but I could be great if I raced like that. Hmm. I didn't run yesterday. Christian and Mason never run the day before races, and their PR's are 4:35 and 4:28. Should I run tomorrow? idk if you homies have any advice i'd appreciate it

There is 1 guy on our team, Seth, who doesn't run the day before races. When he does he doesn't do well. It just depends on the person. If you felt good today after not running yesterday, I would give it a try. Totally up to you though

What spencer said it depends on the person. I often race really good after like a 10 mile day.

totally depends on what your goals are... if you are thinking long term development, than you had better be running before race day - especially when it isn't even close to taper time. I will tell you this as someone who has raced a lot and coached even more people who have raced a lot; those who buy into a system of more mileage (minutes, time on the feet) will benefit from it in the long run. Not knowing your teammates at all or your program at all, I could take a very safe guess and say I've seen runners like them do well initially (even very well), but those who run a lot will always maximize their talent better. However, sometimes people aren't just as talented as others and see them not work as hard and think that is the way to go.

Thanks @holt. I realize that, but the end of my senior year is fast approaching and I feel as though I should be running faster, there's just something I've been doing wrong. I'm on the fence about it right now, but I'd very much like to run for Alabama and if it means taking a small dent later on to run the times now, I'll do a heck of a lot more miles this summer to try and make up for it.

My main question is would it hinder my performance on Saturday.

From Holt on Thu, Apr 21, 2016 at 20:32:46 from 67.2.233.220

if your thinking just saturday... then nope, it won't hurt; could help. next week, that's another day off. Week after that, that's another day of 0's. Adds up pretty quick in a high school system when you race a lot!

From Eugene on Thu, Apr 21, 2016 at 20:38:59 from 67.213.242.84

Hmm. I think I'll try it tomorrow as an experiment, unless Saturday's quite standout I'll probably go back to my pre race runs.
